  • How to hire a DJ and what to ask.

    424

There are so many things couples forget to ask when they are hiring a DJ for their wedding.

I know price is a factor at times, but honestly, what are you saving if you have a non pro show up, looking sloppy the equipment sounds bad, they aren’t around when you need them, the battery in their wireless microphone is dead and when it comes to the toast know one can hear anything.

When you are searching for your DJ, not only ask questions such as, how is their music played? off a computer, CD’s, DVD etc. Find out about sound gear and ask to see photos of their set up, how small or large is it, will it fit in the desired area of your reception without taking up three tables in length? How many DJ’s are going to be present, what is the attire they wear at your wedding, and the most important thing of all is the person you are meeting the actual person who will be the DJ on your date? The photo above is of a DJ company I worked with in Lake Tahoe a couple of years ago, they sounded great, but the set up was huge, they were dressed down for a formal wedding which was all Black Tie and they acted like teens gone wild! My Bride and Groom told me they were asked to wear Tuxes which they said they had, they were instructed and asked if they had a small set up so not to take up too much room… that was a joke, they were up on risers, three tables of gear, wires all over the place, road cases stacked up against the wall and not hidden out of view.

All in all, ask questions, get it all in writing, see photos of the set up, meet only with the person who will be there on your day and ask for some current wedding referrals.

  • TRUTH ABOUT AMERICAN MARRIAGES

        DSC_0135

    Happily Ever After? Indeed

    By Karen Asp

A new survey reveals some telling facts about marriage in America.

Marriage has been taking a hit in the headlines recently. Everywhere you look, couples are cutting that knot. Yet the outlook for marriage in this country may not be as bleak as you thought, if the results of a new survey from Parade magazine are any indication.

Parade polled 1,001 married Americans aged 18 and over and found some contradictions to the otherwise bleak news about marriage. For starters, a whopping 88 percent of participants reported being either happy or reasonably content in their marriages. Another telling statistic? Over half of the couples said they were happy in their marriages, half of them using words like “joyful” and “loving” to portray their marriages. What’s more, 71 percent of couples said they’ve stayed married because of deep love while 73 percent cited companionship.

THIS IS THE BEST NEWS I’VE READ IN A LONG TIME, LETS NOT LET ANYONE DOWN!

  • Photographing Hall Of Famer Steve Young in a couple of weeks

Young was acquired by the 49ers in one of the more...
I’ll be back in my old home town of San Francisco in a couple of weeks for a luncheon for the
SF Bay Area Council of Boy Scouts Of America who are honoring the California Construction
Association and Steve Young (Former SF 49er) will be the guest host for the afternoon. With over
1,200 in attendance for this lunch I will have my hands full lighting and photographing the 26 person
panel and all its guests. Hopefully I will have some quite time to pull Steve aside and get some nice
shots of him for my blog. The very next morning we are off again to another Lake Tahoe wedding.

  • Guys, you better have the RING when you propose!

Dispute shifts from marriage talk to flying knives

The argument started over a marriage proposal and ended when a Florida woman threw several knives at her boyfriend, authorities said. Celeste Irene Lagrant, 39, was arrested Saturday on charges of domestic battery and aggravated domestic assault.

Lagrant and her boyfriend, Bruce Montle, were at home Saturday night when they started arguing about a marriage proposal. It’s unclear whether one was actually made. During the dispute, Lagrant started throwing knives at Montle, who fled and called 911. The assailant, who refused to speak to the deputies when they arrived, was released on her own recognizance Sunday morning.
