Before I shoot any wedding or site I’ve not been at before I always make it a point to map it out, drive there and see what the surroundings are and get a feel of the location. The other day one of my couples who are getting married at this beautiful estate in Napa had me follow them from there home to check out the grounds. The Duncan Estate was built in the 50′s and as you walk around this stately property you find all sorts of things from that era like the old trucks rusting away behind it. There is so much history at this home and winery and I can’t wait to shoot Nikola’s and Steve’s wedding there in September.
While driving to a family portrait session yesterday I passed three new Mercedes, two new Infinities and passed my local mall that was packed with cars. Driving down my street there was only 1 home for sale and people were mowing their lawns and all looked normal.
Before I left my home I was listening to my radio and the news media reported that 1 in 10 homes in California are being foreclosed, the media loves to report the negative of our world. Its time people change their attitude and stop believing all the negative press, its not about us, its mostly about all the greedy corporations that are finnaly getting what they deserve.
The good news is Jesus is Lord, homes prices have dropped and allowed more people than ever to purchase them, people are still finding jobs, babies are still being born and couples are still getting engaged, booking photographers and getting married!! Now, dosen’t that sound better?

Its NOT all photoshop all the time. I came across this really amazing and simple stand alone software that works so fast and has so many wonderful fixes for all types of portrait work. Its from www.portraitprofessional.com and its amazing what you can do with it right away. Here’s one example that took me less than 2 minutes to do. Talk about saving time when retouching faces! This software even lets you change expressions and thins the face too!
I re-shaped and straitened her head and eyes, closed her mouth a little reshaped her jaw, nose and chin area, softened her complexion and removed blemishes and removed some shadows, all in under a couple of minutes. Right after the download it only took me a few attempts on photos to get the hang of the software. I highly recommend www.portraitprofessional.com to all my professional photographer friends out there. There’s also a Free Trial download to check it out too!
