  • Tease from last nights Christian Family Concert

    Fish Family Night  Collage

Last night I had the pleasure of photographing for “The Fish” which is one of the #1 Christian radio stations in the country. The two entertainers were Singer Andrew Carlton and comedian Bob Smiley. When the doors opened for people to come in and find seats it was such a rush! They were actually running to the theater to get seats.

Andrew Carlton opened with his big hit “This is Faith & Home” and the crowd went wild. Christian music is really reaching more and more people these days and Carltons songs seem to reach out and touch people, songs with words we can relate too. After about 40 minutes it was time for a quick 15 minute break, then Bob Smiley was introduced. I’ve never seen or heard of Bob before, and oh my gosh!! This Texas born, fast talking guy is like a Christian  Robin Williams, and had me cracking up. His storytelling approach to life and his delivery was amazing and his humor was off the charts. Even the little kids with their families could understand him and it was so much fun to see every single face focused on every word he said, right up to the punch line.

All in all the night was wonderful. Both entertainers stayed around to meet each and every person after the concert, sign autographs, have their photos taken with guests and sign their Cd’s, books, tee shirts and most anything else you would have liked. These guys were genuine and really love people and you could tell they really appreciate the talent that God had blessed them with. If you ever get a chance to go to a Christian concert of any type, you really need to go. You’ll have an amazing, uplifting time.

  • Sundays Lake Tahoe Wedding Tease!

Well, we got through our Tahoe Wedding, the wedding party was so much fun to shoot that the oncoming almost storm didn’t matter. It was supposed to be in the 80′s and the day ended up being in the 70′s with 15-20mph winds. It was raining hours before our outdoor wedding, but when we started in all stopped and the rest of the day was beautiful. Here are just a handful of images I wanted to get up on the blog for everyone. Thanks again to Jeremy and Tiana who referred me to Andrea’s and Brians wedding today and all the other couples and friends of theirs that I’m shooting later this year too!  Dont miss the web show, just click on the LINK at the bottom of the page!

  • How to meet/greet and shoot celebrities.

    tom-selleck3 tom-selleck5

Whats the first thing you think about when you think about someone famous, someone you really like? What would you say if all of a sudden you were face to face with a celebrity that you had to shoot and how do you think you would handle yourself? These are questions I had to think about years ago before I was a professional photographer back in the early 80′s in the San Francisco Bay Area when I started up my Limousine business and before I went into photography full time. I was always told you never know when you will bump into or get hired to pick up some VIP at the airport, and it happened all the time to me.

My biggest star was Bob Hope back in 1984. I drove right up to his private jet and was standing outside my car waiting for him to come down the steps. Now this is someone I’ve watched my whole life on TV, movies and watched him golf with almost every President in office and he was also an American legend. But when he came closer to introduce himself and find out my name, it was like meeting an old friend, actually more like driving my grandfather around. After he asked all sorts of questions about me, it was really odd, because I felt like we’ve known each other forever. Many other celebrities I have driven and now photographed over the past 25 years were very similar. Some not so kind and warm, but hey, they are only human and have family problems too.

When asked to sit down and photograph people in the entertainment business, you have to be quick with a steady hand and just say thank you allot and smile and get those shots the first time, because there are no second chances to re-shoot. Professional entertainers know how to mug for the camera, also they have a short attention span when it comes to being photographed. The one thing I learned is…if you make it quick and get it done fast for them, you’ve made a friend.

Another thing I learned from shooting celebrities was about timing, and when to speak to them, only speak to them if they ask you a question, don’t get into talking about the weather or anything else. Just do your job and act like a professional and everyone is happy, especially their media people who like to control everything for them and around them. This is the same for shooting CEO’s of major corporations or for that fact most professionals you might have to shoot. People respond better if we just smile and do our job. The main thing to remember is they all want to look good!

  • Corporate Photography Today.

The economy may be slowing down, but business continues and with it the need for photography for advertising and website use is in demand. In an ever changing world and so much competition photographs are the tools used to get the message across more than anything else. The old wordage that ” a picture is worth a thousand words” is still true today. below are some images created for a Electrical company in Sac that will be using these and more for a new updated site as well as printed materials.

  • New Lifestyle Shopping Venue Opens in Northern California

    Collagelowres

I got a call a week or so ago from the media company that was working with a developer in my home town on a new lifestyle shopping venue called the Fountains in Roseville,California. Its a brand new beautiful shopping area that reminds me of  downtown Disney at Disneyland. Its so cool with its dancing waters, ala Las Vegas and the speciality stores that are open are outstanding and there are more and more opening all the way into 2009. You would never know the economy was bad in Roseville. They are building and building all over this town.

So, I thought the best way to show someone my work was to go check out their shopping district first by foot (last week) then today take my camera gear and set out to shoot a small amount of the venue and put together a collage for them to see a sample of my work. I hope this works, if so I might be shooting all their photography in the future. Sometimes you just need to try new ways of getting noticed and if it means doing a little leg work, well then its worth it. if you live anywhere near sacramento, you need to treat yourself to this shopping experience, its a wonderful location to spend most of the day.

  • The Rapture, my religious beleif.

I’ve never spoken about my religion on this blog, but seeing what is going on all over our country right now I feel I should mention a few things. First, I’m a Born Again Christian. I believe everything in the Bible and I’m seeing what was written thousands of years ago all happening right now. I’m not a preacher, but if you are wondering and asking questions about how or why is our country all of a sudden having people loosing their homes, major corporations, airlines, malls all going out of business, our dollar dropping in value, the middle east running out of oil, the middle class becoming the poor, and a possible war now with Iran, then you need to get to your local church now. Oh, and Iran in the past two days has fired missiles and rockets at Israel, Turkey and Palestine warning the USA and others of their power and strength. This will be the next big war we battle.

Knowone likes to hear what the truth is at times, but in these times we cannot sit back and just think, oh well we’ll all just get through this, the USA always bounces back. Not true. Neither Presidential hopeful has any answers to ANY of the problems we are facing and NEITHER of them will be able to come up with any kind of quick fix for America. You CAN protect yourself, your family and loved ones.Talk to some of your friends, find out if they attend a local church and go check it out, its my hope and prayers that you find the truth, just as I have.

    2008 – God’s Final Witness

Many prophecies are beggining to be fulfilled, especially the Seven Thunders of the Book of Revelation, which the apostle John saw but was restricted from recording as well as detailed accounts of the final three and one-half years of man’s self-rule on earth, which are recorded in the account of the Seventh Seal of Revelation.

Some of these prophecies concern the demise of the United States over the next year, which will be followed by man’s final world war. This last war will be the result of clashing religions and the governments they sway.
