  • This weekend my niece gets married!

This Sunday at Martinelli Event Center in Dublin, California My sisters daughter Shayna is tieing the knot….finally! This is going to be a really hard wedding to shoot especially because its family. Trying to do my job and keep my emotions in check will be a test for me. My wife Laura has also offered to help shoot with me, and for anyone who knows my wife, she’s a great shooter, but rarely has time to shoot weddings with me.

  • No Rain Was Going To Stop This Wedding!

Last nights wedding went off perfectly with just a little drizzle right after the ceremony. Its so strange that the entire week was 110 degrees or hotter, then all of a sudden the weekend we have rain! Oh well, for this South Placer Fireman and his lovely new wife a little water falling on them made it just like working a fire.

Later on I’ll be posting a web show with more pictures. Right now I need some sleep.

  • Photographing a Wedding and then an Earthquake

My good friend Leland Wong back in the SF Bay Area just posted this on his blog and I wanted to share it with my readers too. This can happen anywhere, even in San Francisco.

Can you imagine what it was like to have been photographing a wedding in Sichuan, China when 7.9
earthquake hit and shakes for three minutes?  (photos courtesy of Dragon Photo, ND Daily and Sohu.com)

From what we understand, there were thirty-three missing guests in this church.

Please give to a charity of your choice to aid the victims of the earthquake of Sichuan, China and the cyclone of Burma.

  • Quicky Engagement Shoot today

    IMG_0025Retouch

It was 102 degrees out so we shot fast and came up with some cute images for my clients Ronnie and Lisa who are getting married in September. I really like to shoot early in the morning when knowone is up or the stores are closed to get that feeling of time standing still. I also like to shoot at all sorts of locations, but so many times clients just want a simple outdoor portrait. So, give them what they want and everyone is happy!

  • Last year at a glance…

    Carmen by Borel Photography 242 037 1 019 008

I was just looking over some of my work from last year and who I photographed. I shot Carmen Policy former president of the San Francisco 49ers, Former Secretary of State George P. Schultz, The Honorable Supreme Court Justice Steven Bryer, twenty six weddings throughout California, a few Dragon dances at events, CEO’s from throughout the country, Superbowl Champions from the Oakland Raiders from years past, The Raiderettes (all who I will never forget!) and so much more. I had no idea that the camera I received back in 1970, that I had so much fun with, was going to turn into a career. In the next few months I have several celebrity sports events with the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, Oakland A’s and more. In October I will have the chance to hang out and photograph again Steve Young from the 49ers. I haven’t seen or spoken to him since the first days that he signed with the 49ers. He is the guest speaker at a luncheon I’m shooting for 1,500 guests in October. The really cool thing is I get to spend some private time behind the scenes with these people. I get paid not only to photograph them but to catch up on their lives and get to know them a little better. When I met and photographed Joe Montana years ago I had no idea that later he would be hanging out near my old studio in the bay area and having lunch with me on several occasions. I’ll be posting photos of all these events over the next year so keep a look out. This Saturday I’m photographing a dinner honoring William “Bubba” Paris, former SF 49er at the Oakland Hilton with some others that is being put on by the San Francisco Council Of Boy Scouts of America. It’s funny. If I lived in Los Angeles I would be shooting other celebrities, but in the SF Bay Area we are surrounded by tons of Sports Stars. Until we meet again on the blog….
