  • Celebrating at the Ritz Carlton Last Night

I really miss San Francisco since moving to the Sacramento area, mostly because I used to only live 30 minutes away from the city, now its a 2 hr. drive each way.

Its funny, I moved six years ago from the Bay Area and now more than ever I am getting more work to come back to the City By The Bay!

Last nights event was to honor Mr. Stephen Bechtel of Bechtel Corporation by the Boyscouts of America with the Distinguished Citizen Award.

In attendance was the who’s who of American corporations and our government.

    Chairman from these companies attended:

Chevron Oil, Bank of America and Wells Fargo to mention a few and the list goes on and on. Also in attendance was former Secretary of State George Schultz and his lovely wife Charlotte. The entire Bechtel family was there too, which is astonishing in itself because they operate all over the world and everyone is involved from their grandchildren on up.

Another thing that is different at an event such as this is the tight security from the bomb sniffing dogs who do a check of the ballroom and kitchen area right before the event starts and all the body guards including the secret service, which by the way once the event starts you don’t even see them.

All in all it was an amazing event and dinner which raised more than a Half Million Dollars for the San Francisco Bay Area Boyscouts of America.

  • 2008 Weddings Go High Fashion!

I love shooting weddings and I really love it when my couples really bring it up a few notches and go all out! Not only do they look beautiful on their wedding day but it also gives me the opportunity to photograph some of most beautiful gowns we all see in the magazines on models and celebrities. Its your wedding day, your time to shine! Below is an article I found online along with many links to designers and their 2008 designs.

    The Haute Bride

Next year, bridal gowns go high fashion.

Bridal Week is usually regulated to red-headed step-child status in the fashion world—and rightfully so. All those shiny white dresses start to look hypnotically similar, and what the designers lack in creativity, they make up for in rhinestones. The spring 2008 season, which wrapped up last week, showed off gowns that were, for once, more high fashion and less David’s Bridal. Designers like Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Monique Lhuillier, Elizabeth Filmore, and Reem Acra dared to stray from the usual formulaic looks and offered up off-the-shoulder dresses, pleats and ruffles, and even pastels. The showstopper of the week: Reem Acra’s silk taffeta cape gown with an embroidered belt (look 25). Next year, save the lace and satin for your tablecloths.

  • Do You Beleive in Santa Claus?

    Who is St. Nicholas?

  • Wedding Nightmares

Every woman hopes for the perfect wedding day. So what’s a bride to do when her fears threaten to turn it into a perfect disaster?

Check out Dr. Phils site on this very subject: http://www.drphil.com/shows/show/232

Interesting info that I did’nt even think or know about and I’ve been in this business for almost thirty years!

  • North Pole Photoshop Classes Start Today!

We are having a great turnout up north here today for our photoshop classes, don’t worry we still have some seats left for those photographers who are running late getting their sleigh parked. Hey, is that Bob Davis teaching?

  • What to get her for Christmas….

If you like strolling through the snow, embracing the icy winter weather with your warm-hearted lover, here’s a useful (albeit not super attractive) item: Glovers.

Billed by the manufacturer as “the most romantic, cosiest gloves ever invented,” this odd little fashion item is just what it looks like — a glove for two. That way you can hold the hand of that special someone without the fear of frostbite. Now nothing, not even arctic temperatures, can stand in the way of your true love!

Of course, you won’t be able to stop holding your partner’s hand until the walk is over, and you’ll probably get made fun of by neighborhood teenagers. Just something to keep in mind before you get all romantic and put this under the tree.

  • Here’s One For The Books!!!!!

How marriage saved one man’s life

Studies have shown that marriage can have a very real effect on your health, but can marriage actually save your life?

For one man, it did. When armed robbers came into Donnie Register’s antique shop in Jackson, Mississippi this weekend, pointing guns and demanding cash, Register threw his left hand in front of his face. One of the robbers fired a shot, hitting the shopkeeper on his wedding ring, which deflected the bullet away from his face, almost certainly saving his life.

The report doesn’t give details about the type of ring Register was wearing, but if you’re looking for bulletproof jewelry, titanium is probably your best bet. No promises, though — in all my years in the jewelry biz, we never tested the rings against gunfire.

  • What’s a Bike photo doing on this blog?

M_07ExpSportBlk Its here because I remember how happy and THIN I was when I was in my teens and I rode my 10 speed all the time. Back then were the 70′s and I am now 100lbs. heavier so I’m going back in time and am starting a exercise program and cutting way back on my food to drop the weight and hopefully live another 25-50 years. This model, and boy have they changed, is the Expedition Elite Champ Road Bike.

It was a little scary getting on a bike after almost 36 years, but after just a minute or two it was like I never stopped it all came back and was easy, but that was just 2 minutes in a parking lot! My salesmen said I should wear this goofy looking helmet and after almost falling off when I stopped…I agreed right away! Ha!

Hopefully by June I will be ready and fit for our 2008 wedding season and then I can retire my bike for a while and my toosh for my new Dodge Caravan and its soft plush captains seat!

Coming up next week will be two corporate Holiday Parties from San Francisco and more photos for the blog. See you all then!

  • Giving Back to the Community

    IMG_0197 5x7

This was the second year that I was honored to photograph for the Achieve Program of San Francisco. Again held at the San Francisco Museum Of Art, guests included Mr. Chuck Smith retired CEO of AT&T, former football superbowl champs Ronnie Lott and Harris Burton along with special guest..the world famous Mr. Willie Mays from the San Francisco Giants.

This year I decided to finally have someone use my camera and snap off a couple of images of me, the not so famous photographer (I hate my picture taken by the way) I was shooting 60 graduates along with the teachers and sponsors of the event non stop for three hours with only a 10 minute break. It was wild, but oh so much fun. In total over 180 instant printed on site photos delivered and over 200 other images shot during the awards and games that were held.

About The Program: As a year-round program, we provide students with extensive academic support, mentoring, summer internships, cultural and community service activities. It is our ultimate goal that all achieve students go on to college, graduate, and become successful citizens who will give back to the community.
