Oh my gosh…both of my nieces just got engaged and the first wedding is June 1, 2008 with the other next May of 2009. I can’t believe how fast they both have grown up and how they have been planning this day forever! I’m a little nervous, thats right…Mr. Cool is nervous, I mean I’m not just shooting for a regular client, I will be having my entire family around me when I’m trying to work!!

I’ve been told to never work for family, but when your Mother tells you that YOU are shooting your nieces wedding for your sister, you just hit your knees and start to pray. I know I’ll do a great job for both of them, the problem is, how to not have them telling me what to do and what to shoot and where to go etc. etc. I’m working on a work sheet for my sister and her daughter Shayna’s wedding coming up this next June and also my other niece Connie and her mom so they can right down everything they will want and expect from me so I don’t miss a beat.

Here are a few photos I snapped of them and their fiancees the other day when our family finally got together for the holidays. This was also the first time my wife and I got to meet the young men that are going to be their husbands soon.

  • I bet it’s really tough to realize that your little baby nieces have grown up so fast. They’re beautiful and I’m sure you’ll have a blast shooting their weddings. You got some great shots of them here. Happy New Year Randy.

  • That’s awesome, and I know you’ll do a tremendous job for them. They are lucky to have such a talented photographer in their family!

  • Hey Randy….it’s really refreshing to hear a seasoned photographer admit he is nervous! I know you will do a wonderful job!

  • Congrats to both of them!

  • oh wow! How neat! I love that picture in front of the fireplace! (It’s so warm)
No joke on shooting for your family.  I shot both of my cousins’ weddings this past summer and it was fun and all–but at one of them they were rushing us so much that we didn’t even get a picture of just the bride and groom.  :(   Not to mention, other family members sort of expect that you’ll give them pictures.  but don’t worry, you’ll make it, you’ve got so much experience under your belt that I’m sure it’ll all be fine! (Not to mention, the pictures will probably mean even more to your nieces because you took them!)

  • With beauties like that all you have to do is point and shoot!
