  • sweet. where was this at?

  • “Dude, I *told* you you can pick up chicks in a tank!!”

  • Randy, I don’t think the D300 will blow you away if you’re used to shooting with the 5D. Although the D300 noise levels are coming close to being the same, the 5D still slaughters the D300 for detail rendition and sharpness at ISO 1600 and 3200. At ISO 100 they’re neck and neck for resolution, but if you shoot in low light a lot, stick with FF / FX.

And you can get two 5D’s for less than the price of one D3, hehe…

I’m going to continue to “barely squeak by” with the decent D300 + noisy D200, for now, and patiently wait for Nikon’s answer to the 5D. Hopefully it won’t take longer than a year to come out, and hopefully it won’t cost so dang much! My expert camera geek estimation is D300X, (D300 with a D3 sensor and a bit slower specs) mid-2008, approx $3K. And on the Canon side, 5D mk2, (40D with a ~14 MP FF sensor) early 2008, and ~$3000.

At that point I think the two brands will finally be just about equal, and it will boil down to camera operation preference…

PS- Funny you should post a picture of the military, cause here’s what THEY shoot:

    2004 San Diego Airshow

    2005 San Diego Airshow

And the same was the case at this year’s airshow as well.

  • Wow thems fightin words to the Nikon shooter! Glad I shoot the 5D cause I KNOW what you mean….

PS Yeah,Mark is sick so he usually doesnt shave when he is down.

  • Agreed.  After using both brands–I LOVE my Canon!

  • i hear that all the time and i wish i wasn’t so heavily invested in nikon. it would be an easier choice. the 5d is the most talked about camera i have ever heard. my next body will be the d300 though. i’ve heard it is very good. can’t quite stretch to the d3 right now. getting there.
