No Flash was used on 80% of this wedding, just my Canon 5D full frame sensor cameras and their beautiful prime “L” lenses. A big shout out to Randy Baughn of  www.Randallsonline.com for opening my eyes again to see, capture and create beautiful images using natural light!!

  • The very first Digital Camera…

It all started in 1994 with the First ever digital SLR from Kodak. It was a monster and the cost was $10,000 I know, because I had one. Who knew that just 13 years later you could have a camera smaller than a pack of cards fit into your tee-shirt and get the same images for a fraction of the cost??!!

I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for all of us professional shooters.

  • Just another Beautiful Day in San Francisco!

    golden gate

These are my clients from a couple of years ago, Doctor Douglas Lew and Doctor Donna Barpal DDS. Their wedding was in Lake Tahoe and this past January 2007 they had a beautiful little girl named Chloe. I called Doug up on the phone to see how they were doing a few days ago and said lets do a shoot of the new family up in the city. I always offer a free family portrait session for any of my couples with their new borns after 6 months. Going all the way (4 hours R/T) to San Francisco was my idea. My wife Laura actually came along this time and we all had a blast. Afterwards Laura and shopped and had lunch on the water in Sausilito at Spinnakers. The food was marvelous and the view of the city was too. Here are just a few of the images I created for Doug & Donna and their little princess!

  • A great new idea for wedding receptions!

I’ve been in the instant photo business now for almost 10 years and am always thinking about new creative ways to spice up a wedding reception and make my couples reception not like any other.

I’ve decided to start offering the amazing “Sony Snap Lab” for my wedding clients. Just think of all those guest’s that attend the wedding with their digital point and shoot cameras. Wouldn’t it be great to have them print out the photos they took at the ceremony and reception right there and take them home that night, or better yet hand over the photos in a small album to the bride and groom to take on their honeymoon!

Well the technology is here and we are going to be marketing this along with our 2008 weddings. It only takes 13 seconds for a real color, black & white or sepia tone 3 1/2 X 5″ real photo! Just think of all those weddings that guests shoot at and the couple never see’s any of the pictures, not any longer! Guests simply walk up to our table display pop in their camera card and print out any or all of their prints. the cost to our Bride and Grooms for this system is only $350.00 for up to 600 photos! The great thing too is it doesn’t take up that much space and it sets up in a minute!

The Sony Snap Lab is a compact, standalone digital photo system with robust editing features right on the printer that lets users manipulate images and make high quality prints in seconds without the need of a computer.

The Sony Snap Lab can print directly from camera cards from all current digital media types. The attached LCD screen allows the user to control color, density, contrast. It can also adjust B&W and sepia effects, red-eye reduction and custom graphics. This unit also does package, multi-up and index printing.

  • This Labor Day do something special…help others.

spacer imageAlways a camera in hand

Since I was 10 years old I have been involved with the MDA telethon. I watched the telethon grow from a single broadcast out of New York to a world wide broadcast of today.

Jerry Lewis is the chairman of MDA and has been hosting the telethon since its inception. Its not about all the celebrities who donate their time, talent. It’s about your neighbor down the block who just found out he has ALS, its about your little girls best friend at school who was just diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy or it could even be someone in your own family that may have a neuromuscular disease.

Since 1966 Jerry Lewis has helped raise approximately US$2 billion for neuromuscular patient care and research.

On his 40th Labor Day telethon in 2005, Lewis added Salvation Army fundraising (for Hurricane Katrina) to his usual MDA fundraising, though he also encouraged viewers to give to the American Red Cross. He has also hosted the 1987 and 1991 editions of the French Muscular Dystrophy Téléthon, where he is known for his work against this disease.

So if you aren’t doing anything special this Labor Day why not make a donation or even better look into being a volunteer, its a great job that I highly recommend.

  • Headshots..They can really boost your business.

    IMG_0031rIMG_0028r

I used to think that shooting business head shots was boring and you couldn’t make that much money from them. That was about 25 years ago. I hate shooting the plain old boring studio head and shoulder images for people, but sometimes thats all they need and want. I like too express to my clients that the public wants to see you at work, they want to see an actual person in a familiar place so they can identify with them.

It works, and its great getting outside and using all of your creative juices to come up with new ideas all the time. This morning I had a great shoot with Jim Seibert of Vitek Mortgage. Jim uses me about 4 times a year for photos for all of his advertising. Both Jim and I thought we should generate some new looks, so in only 40 minutes I did an entire full length shoot upstairs in his companies lobby, then broke down my gear and headed outside and also in the buildings lobby. I found all sorts of places to come up with different angels and images. Here are some so you can get an idea of what I do.
