Estimated cost of the wedding: $3.5 million

Oscar-winning entertainer Liza Minnelli wed producer David Gest in March 2002 in New York City’s Marble Collegiate Church. The over-the-top nuptials featured Best Man Michael Jackson and Maid of Honor Elizabeth Taylor. Among the 500 or so guests at the reception were superstars Diana Ross, Lauren Bacall and Mia Farrow. Backed by a 60-piece orchestra, Tony Bennett entertained VIPs, who feasted on a 12-tier wedding cake and received personalized favors encased in satin candy boxes embossed “Liza and David 4 Ever.” (The pair divorced the next year.)

  • wow… i hope to get married barefoot in a swamp with no reception!

  • now had they spent $3.6M, they might still be together….

  • That is soooo funny Kenny!!

  • hahah kennys comment is hilarious haha!

  • Kenny is hilarious as usual.

On a serious note, it does sadden me that most celebrities simply can’t seem to stay in a relationship. Or is it just that the ones who break up get plastered all over the headlines and the ones who stay together never get mentioned? Maybe it’s 50-50 split? That would comfort me a little but somehow I doubt it’s true.

Also burning that much on a wedding strikes me as, well, it just strikes me I guess. Even if I had billions of dollars, I’d like to think that it wouldn’t go to my head; I’d just channel my income straight to the Red Cross or Habitat for Humanity or something.

But hey, what celebs do with their money is none of my business, and I’m sure that they give way more to charity than we do…

  • Randy, you might be on to something. But surprisingly enough, I think the bloggers down here in So Cal might outnumber those up in the bay area. Actually, I’ve gotten together with pretty much every blogger I know down here, and Junshien up there.

SF would indeed be a cool place to get together though. I may be up there this Thanksgiving at my Uncle’s in Mountain View, but other than that I dunno when I might up there again…
